I just thought I'd have one more go at this form of journaling. I like the idea of blogging and when it is working well and I'm in the habit of posting on a regular basis, I know that it seems to be a useful tool. Even if it isn't very useful to anyone else, it helps me to frame thoughts and ideas and see what they look like when they are exposed with the additional accountability of public scrutiny.
In this season of my life I am desperate to explore what being a follower of Jesus in Australia in 2008 is all about. To discover how much of an impact the Kingdom of God could have in this needy world if his children, normal people like you and me who profess to have a faith, would simply commit to representing his heart and his purposes in the everyday places where we live, work and play.
I want to be a responsible person speaking up about the dangers of
climate change and a planet in decay but what about a planet in moral decay?
I want to challenge the human rights abuses I see all over the world but what about my own country and the human rights it abuses?
These and so many more questions are answered simply in the person and work of Jesus Christ and I'm learning this and being challenged daily by what I find as I become introduced to the Jesus I've never met before.
The following posts are just my reflections on what I'm seeing for the first time and I hope these same thoughts can be useful keys to help unlock some of your religious closets.
Let's see where this journey takes us. I am only one of many people around me who are committed to this journey and my hope and prayer is that we'll grow in this together for the greater good and we'll sacrifice plenty of sacred cows along the way to make room for God's kingdom to come in power and to allow God’s will to be done.
